If in doubt about how to pronounce a name in CNY or WNY… especially if it’s a classical name, or the name of a foreign country or city… just pronounce it like an illiterate 19th century farmer would!

Had to check and make sure Greenwich — pronounced “green witch” — was in there. Because I’m still getting over the culture/class shock of spending my early youth in upstate NY and my high-school years in a milieu where you were supposed to know how to pronounce Greenwich (as in Connecticut).
